My own "Now & Then"

In Charlotte
Web magazine • Theatre multimedia • YouTube series

For the past seven years I've produced dozens of videos for a web magazine, promos and multimedia pieces for Charlotte theaters and a YouTube series featuring an interviewer chatting with her guests in bed.

War Horse

Tony Award winning "War Horse" trotted into town and I interviewed the talented puppeteers who bring this creature to life.

33 Variations performed at C.A.S.T.

One of Charlotte's premiere community theaters performed "33 Variations" for which I provided promos and multimedia support.

Pillow Talk with Joanne

Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts chats it up with host Joanne Spataro in her novel YouTube interview series.

In New York
PBS Documentaries • Web sites

For 11 years, I lived in New York City working as a web and television producer and General Manager of Learning Matters, an independent production company that produces reports for The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, as well as documentaries for PBS.

"Making the Grade" is a 6-part series I produced for that aired on The Newshour and won a First Place EWA Award.

Young Scientists

Another PBS documentary I produced follows the progress of twenty highly motivated students in their quest to compete in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair

Donald Devet in NYC

Here I am having some fun in a spoof video trying to raise money for our company by selling the Peabody Award.

Donald Devet, puppeteer

I'd moved to New York from Charlotte, NC where for 18 years I was a professional puppeteer, performing across the country and producing puppet shows for both theater and television. The art of puppetry had intrigued me since childhood.

Donald Devet as "Stanley"

As a junior in high school puppetry helped me get my foot in the door of the local CBS affiliated station in Columbia, SC. For the next 6 years, I soaked up all I could about how television works hosting and producing a weekly children's show, "Stanley the Clown."

Donald Devet in Korea

After college, I was drafted during the Vietnam War, but was fortunate to be assigned as a broadcast specialist for American Forces Korean Network in Seoul.

Donald Devet directing a docu-drama

My first full-time civilian job was back in Charlotte, where I spent 11 years in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' instructional television division, writing, producing and hosting dozens of programs, including a nationally distributed children's series on holidays and three historical docudramas.

Stage Show Promos

I'm using my accumulated media experience to create one-of-a-kind videos of the people, places, and events of our lives.
